Newsday reported that the New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Saturday morning at a press briefing that the killer diid not fire any shots at police. Instead, all the shots that hurt bystanders, came from NYPD officers as they took down Jeffrey Johnson, the laid-off fashion designer who gunned down his former co-worker.

Six of the bystanders were hit with bullet fragments, three were actually shot. All are expected to make fully recoveries. Currently, Three of the injured are hospitalized at Bellevue Hospital Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries

The Huffington Post reported that Johnson and Ercolino had had a work-related dispute, and when Johnson was laid off from the company a year ago, "he blamed Ercolino saying he hadn't aggressively marketed his new T-shirt line."
