CNN reported that two police officers have died and two were wounded after the second of two linked shootings.

The first shooting occurred in a refinery parking lot near New Orleans. One deputy was wounded as a result. The second happened after two officers went to a trailer park to investigate the first shooting. As they spoke with a resident, a man ambushed them with an assault rifle.

"My officers that were killed this morning were simply doing their jobs," Mike Tegre, St. John The Baptist sheriff, told reporters.

Fox News reported that the two officers, Brandon Nielsen, 34, and Jeremy Triche, 28 were at the trailer park responding to a notification by Riverview trailer park residents of a speeding car matching the description of the car involved in the earlier shooting.
