In a brief news summary, the AP reported Facebook did not actually fess up to infringement on user privacy, but agreed to cooperate with government audits for the next two decades. 

And one more box to check: The company also said it would get "explicit" approval from users before making content public. 

The AP said much of the Federal Trade Commission's complaint "centers on changes to privacy controls in 2009. The revisions automatically shared information and pictures about Facebook users, even if they previously programmed their privacy settings to shield the content."
