Condoleezza Rice spoke at the Republican National Convention Wednesday. The former secretary of state outlined her belief in America as a place for individuals to better themselves and see success by pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps. Her address, which clocked in just shy of 20 minutes, included mention of her humble upbringing in “Jim Crow Birmingham.”

Also on the docket was an extended discussion of the events which transpired on 9/11. Rice spoke of freedom and security’s foes, such as leadership in Iran, Syria, Iraq, Russia and “rising China.”

Her rhetorical style throughout the performance was outstanding and unique, particularly when noting her respect and gratitude for the nation’s “allies.”
