A fire that broke out at a northern California Chevron refinery on Monday evening has been fully contained, reported the San Jose Mercury News.

The refinery's personnel were evacuated around 6:30 p.m. when hydrocarbon vapor ignited. According to The L.A. TImes, about 200 people were admitted into hospitals due to respiratory problems.

The refinery is one of the largest in the country, located about 10 miles northeast of San Francisco in Richmond, Calif.

Because it is such a large refinery, Price Futures Group oil analyst Phil Flynn told Businessweek that "pictures of the fire suggested it would not be back on line soon."

• Flynn predicted motorists would see higher prices at the pump almost immediately.
• "I'm hearing five to 10 cents, but I think it's probably going to be double that," he said.
