Arab League Postpones Meeting About Syria
While the Arab League official who announced the postponement did not give a reason for the delay and did not say when the meeting might be rescheduled, an official told Reuters that the meeting had been postponed because Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, Prince Saud al-Faisal had undergone a minor operation.
The announcement came a day after Turkey and the United States agreed to “accelerate preparations” for the possible fall of Syria’s president, Bashar al-Assad, which would create a formal team to provide aid to refugees and plan for worst-case outcomes that could include a chemical weapons attack, the New York Times reported.
Meanwhile, fighting has continued in Syria. According to the New York Times, fighting in Aleppo remains steady and two bomb attacks took place in Damascus.
