A policeman in Afghanistan opened fire on a group of his colleagues on Saturday, killing ten officers before being killled himself in the ensuing gun fight, the Associated Press reported.

Saturday's shooting comes just one day after six U.S. service members were gunned down by the Afghan counterparts. Violence within the alliance has been on the rise this summer, with a disturbing increase in attacks by Afghans against foreign soldiers. This has raised distrust within coalition forces, threatening efforts to train and prepare Afghan policemen and soldiers.

U.S. and NATO troops are scheduled to withdraw by 2014 and Afghan forces have already taken over security duties in many areas of the country.

Coalition officials warned that a few rouge assailants would not taint the efforts of 352,000 Afghan soldiers and police officers. Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the attacks and ordered an investigation into the incident.

"The enemy who does not want to see Afghanistan have a strong security force, targets military trainers," Karzai said in a statement.
