Most of the earthquakes were centered around Brawley, Calif., which sits near the couthern end of the San Andreas Fault. Several older buildings in Brawley suffered cosmetic damage. 

Thomas Jordan, director of the Southern California Earthquake Center at USC, called the series of earthquakes a "very active swarm" and said the region could experience more shaking in the week to come.

"We're always concerned where there is significant seismic activity because that means there is a higher probability of having more seismic activity," he said.
