Valentino incorporated a "deep lightness" in its Spring 2012 couture collection. Designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, who are also accessories designers, this is one of their most exquisite collections yet focuses on soft romantic features.

The collection was dominated by floral details and white, which is not surprising for a spring collection. The floor-length maxis and knee-length dresses both expressed the airiness of spring. Lace and organza were used to create volume while keeping the lightness intact. The levels of organza varied, with dresses having up to five layers of fabric. Taffeta was used for the heavier dresses, which were embellished with pearls and crystals. The makeup was kept natural with just a flick of cat eyeliner and the hair was tied back casually.

The front row seated celebrities Cameron Diaz and Shala Monroque. Fashion regulars Bianca Brandolini d'Adda and Emmanuelle Alt were, of course, present.
