Clashes in Syria between rebels and government forces continued to escalate in Aleppo Saturday, as the military moved in on opposition strongholds.

According to several news outlets, the "mother of all battles" is looming in a city now beset by the worst violence in 16 months.

CNN International reported the regime has cut fuel and food lines into Aleppo neighborhoods, forcing rebels to set up aid clinics inside of homes. Conflict in Syria's largest city has dragged on for about a week now.

Damascus also saw violence in its suburbs, with at least 23 people killed. And the Syrian issue leaked across the border into Tripoli, where at least 12 people were injured.
