Obama And Romney's Olympic Strategies Unveiled

MediaPost reported that Obama'a campaign made a $6.1 million national ad buy with NBCUniversal. An Obama ad will air every night during NBC's Olympics coverage as well as a daytime spot on NBC-affiliated channels targeted for female viewers.
Mitt Romney, on the other hand, has not bought any air time yet. Instead, the Republican candidate is expected to shift the focus from his personal finances, to his foreign policy objectives. After arriving in London on Friday for the Olympics' Opening Ceremony, Romney will be privately meeting with top British government ministers and opposition leaders, the Daily Beast reported, he has even "scored an interview in London with Brian Williams of NBC." After his Olympics' stop, Romney will continue to Poland and Israel; both important American allies. However, Romney has not openly discussed his plans in eiher of these locations. In sharp contrast to Obama's highly publicized foreign campaign, Romney's understated stye of campaigning, CBS reported, is in keeping with his overall style of campaigning.
"Campaign aides have suggested," CBS reported, "that it will be fireworks-free in part because Romney subscribes to the longstanding tradition whereby American politicians refrain from criticizing a sitting president while on foreign soil."
Meanwhile, NPR reported, that Priorities USA, the superPAC backing Obama's re-election has unveiled a new ad (just in time for the London Olympics) parodying Mitt Romney's overseas business ties. Using footage of Romney waiving during the opening ceremony of the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics which he was in charge of, the ad's announcers link Romney's business ties with certain countries taking part in the games: "China, thousands owe their jobs to Mitt Romney's companies"; "Burma, where Romney had the uniforms for the 2002 games made."
The ad will run in the swing states of Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia during the Olympics.
