The Los Angeles City Council voted Tuesday to ban all marijuana dispensaries.  The decision was unanimous, according to the Los Angeles Times

All 762 dispensaries registered in the city will be asked to shut down, and those that don't do so may face legal action from the city.

However, a separate ordinance was created that would allow dozens of dispensaries to remain open.

The proposal would allow shops that existed before a 2007 ban on new dispensaries to stay open.  The council may vote on this proposal in three months.
