Congressman Barney Frank Marries Longtime Partner

Frank spokesman Harry Gural said the 72-year-old congressman married 42-year-old Jim Ready on Saturday evening at the Boston Marriott Hotel in Newton
Frank was one of the first openly gay politicians in national office. He has been a member of congress for 31 years and previously served eight years in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, according to the Boston Globe.
Ready works as a photographer and runs a small business that does custom awnings, carpentry, painting, welding and other services, according to the Boston Globe.
NBC News reported that some humor was added into the ceremony during the vows which were officiated by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick.
“Frank, 72, and Ready, 42, had vowed to love each other through Democratic and Republican administrations alike, and even through appearances on Fox News,” reported NBC News.
Earlier this year, Frank, who will not run for re-election again in 2013, told New York Magazine that he might have tried to put off the marriage until after the election if he had decided to run, because it "just becomes a complication. ”
However, Frank said he thought it was important to get married while still in office.
“I think it’s important that my colleagues interact with a married gay man," Frank told New York Magazine.
