Movie screenings and music shows galore! This week's events will get you out to new and familiar parts of the city to explore.
Street Food Cinema | July 28 | 5:30p.m. - 11:30p.m. | Exposition Park
Want to catch a movie this weekend and chow down? Check out Street Food Cinema, a summer event series featuring outdoor films, food trucks and live music. Movies screen every Saturday until Sept. 1, when there will be a finale at Bloch Field. Tickets are $10. On this weekend? "Iron Man" with music by the Sun Kings and food from Da Burger Boss, among others. (Street Food Cinema)
Rock n' Roll Camp for Girls Camper Showcase | July 28 | 4p.m.-5:30p.m. | El Rey Theatre
If you’re in the mood to do something good for others tomorrow, then head over to the El Rey to support the Rock N’ Roll Camp for Girls at its annual camper showcase. Every year, the non-profit organization dedicated to instilling self-confidence in girls through music education and creative self-expression puts together a concert that features its campers performing a slew of original songs. After rehearsing all week, these girl bands are ready to showcase their hard work. Tickets are $10 with all proceeds going straight to funding future programs that will help to empower more generations of campers. "School of Rock" plus a whole lot of girl power? Saturdays Off the 405: Nick Waterhouse | July 28 | 6p.m.-9p.m. | Getty Center
Congested freeways are among Los Angelenos' top complaints and the 405 is no stranger to this. That is why the Getty Center has playfully crafted "Saturdays Off the 405," a series of free concerts taking place at the museum over the summer. Headlining the show this week is Nick Waterhouse, a much-buzzed about singer that is quickly revitalizing R&B from the sixties. This up-and-coming songbird may be the wave of the future, but his sound is a throwback to the past. What is better watching a big brassy band against the backdrop of a stunning cityscape? We couldn't think of anything else either. (Saturdays Off the 405)
HARD Summer | August 3 - 4 | 6p.m. - 2a.m. | Los Angeles State Historic Park
If you're at all involved in L.A.'s EDM scene, you should know the HARD name (and revere the man behind the organization, Destructo a.k.a. Gary Richards). Next weekend is HARD's annual city summer fest, featuring headliners like Boys Noize, Skrillex, Nero, and Bloc Party. Single day passes are on sale now, but for the more adventurous, take in a double serving of some of the world's best DJs and producers in a city that worships the drop. (HARDfest)

If there's a horror fan in you, it might be time to get your thrills and chills from a new place. The Geffen theater brings one of the most famous scary movie of all time to life in their theater adaptation of "The Exorcist." Directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle and adapted by acclaimed playwright John Pielmeier (Agnes of God), "The Exorcist" transforms the unsettling battles of good versus evil into a uniquely theatrical experience that will haunt you for days.
