A major two-week connector closure at the southbound I-605 to the southbound I-405 will begin at 10 p.m. on Monday until mid-August, for drivers from Los Angeles and Orange County.

Workers will be rebuilding the connector ramp and adding a carpool lane, according to NBC. The improvements are part of the $277 million West County Connector Project that aims to improve traffic flow and connect between the I-405, I-605 and State Route 22 freeways.

The project is expected to be completed by 2014, and includes reconstruction on the Valley View Street Bridge, Seal Beach Blvd. Bridge and new connectors, ramps and lanes throughout the freeways said NBC.
