Sandusky Defense Prepares To Present Case

The judge in the case ruled Friday that the defense could call experts to testify about whether Sandusky suffers from Histrionic Personality Disorder, CNN reported. Sandusky’s lawyers said they plan to offer expert testimony from a psychologist that will help explain how statements their client made in letters to one of the victims is consistent with the personality disorder.
The defense lawyers wrote in their motion, “The goal of a person suffering from this disorder in writing those letters would not necessarily be to groom or sexually consummate a relationship in a criminal matter, but rather to satisfy the needs of a psyche belabored by the needs of such a disorder.”
At the beginning of next week, prosecutors are expected to officially rest their case, which will allow Sandusky’s attorneys to state their defense. The former Nittany Lions defensive coordinator faces 52 counts tied to the abuse of at least 10 boys over a span of 15 years.
