According to an investigation by House Republicans, the White House made a deal with pharmaceutical companies in the interest of its healthcare reform bill. A new cache of emails was released Friday which showed that in return for halting a proposal to bring down medicine prices, several pharmaceutical companies agreed to run advertisements supporting healthcare reform. The White House proposed
specific messages for the ads, such as the importance of the reform for the entire economy. The deal between Democrats and PhRMA was well known at the time of healthcare reform, but in light of the upcoming election, Republicans have resurrected the issue.
