Gucci Launches Eco-friendly Shoe Collection

Designed by Gucci's creative director, Frida Giannini, the line as yet only includes two styles, one for men and one for women. Marola Green are ballerina flats available in polished colors like blush, taupe and black, designed with a sense of continuity, broken only by cutout detailing and the company’s double-G motif. For men are the California Green men’s sneakers, available in both high- and low-top, featuring bio-rubber soles, vegetable-tanned calfskin, bio-strings, rhodium-plated metal details and tongues featuring the brand's logo.
The project reflects Gucci’s commitment to the Copenhagen Fashion Summit, the world’s most important conference on sustainable fashion. Sustainable Soles will be available in Gucci’s electronic and flagship stores worldwide by the end of June.

Lovely designs. Leather CAN ABSOLUTELY BE ECO-FRIENDLY. If the pre-tanning is done using farm bred mimosa, and then finished using plant based dyes then definitely you can say that this leather has been processed in an eco-friendly way. There are a couple of people already doing that:
