Four French troops were killed and five injured during a suicide bombing in Afghanistan Saturday. The attack occurred in the Kapisa province east of Kabul. The bomber detonated the explosives after reaching a joint Afghan-French patrol in a village. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack, which also wounded several civilians. French President Hollande had announced to NATO allies at a summit in Chicago last month that France would withdraw from combat in Afghanistan this year after French troops were killed earlier this year. The total number of French deaths in Afghanistan since 2001 is now 87.
