After months of anticipation, Disney’s California Adventure Park finally opened Cars Land Friday featuring three new rides including an E-ticket roller coaster.

The five-year expansion includes new attractions, merchandise locations and food offerings for park visitors. According to KTLA, people arrived outside the park beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday in order to be first in line for Friday’s grand opening.

Evident from video below, the crowds were pouring in Friday morning when the gates opened at 8 a.m. as part of California Adventure’s new summer hours. Park officials warn guests to expect long lines in the first weeks of June.

According to the Disney app that allows park guests to share wait times, at 1 p.m. PST, all three new rides had waits over 45 minutes with Radiator Spring Racers having a wait time of over 120 minutes.

Cars Land, inspired by the animated Disney film, “Cars,” adds 12 acres to the theme park, which hopes to increase crowds and buzz in comparison to Disneyland. Luigi’s Flying Tires and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree are two of the new flat rides in the area.

The one gaining the most excitement, however, is the estimated $200 million Radiator Spring Racers (an on-ride video is below). The six-person car ride begins like any other dark ride. Halfway through, however, the race begins as riders feel like they are on somewhat of a roller coaster, racing another car next to them.
