United States Secretary of Commerce John Bryson announced Monday he'll take a medical leave of absence from his post.

The Los Angeles Times reported Bryson told his deputy secretary he wants to work on "resolving the health issues that arose over the weekend."

Those health issues are being cited as the cause of two traffic collisions the commerce secretary was involved in while driving in L.A.

According to police, Bryson was found unconscious in his Lexus around 5 p.m. Saturday after hitting two other cars. He was cited but not booked, and was taken to a nearby hospital.
