Ron Paul Rallies Young Crowd At Cal-State Fullerton

The university hosted the congressman’s town hall address inside Titan Stadium, drawing some 4,000 residents of Southern California. Paul said he was happy to see so many of them were students and young people.
“It gives me a lot of encouragement to see such enthusiasm,” Paul said, “because the issues are so vital. Students coming out of college—they may have a huge debt and no job and they know there is something deeply flawed with the system. We need to change it.”
Paul told the young audience he understood the kinds of problems they face, both now as students and further on down the road as they age. He said “it would be great” if the U.S. stopped spending money overseas, and offered an alternative to the generation of Americans now leaving college: “Assume responsibility for yourself and stay out of the social security system. Keep your own money and take care of yourself.”
The Texas congressman did not mention Newt Gingrich’s earlier announcement that the rival would drop out of the GOP race, or the likelihood of Mitt Romney’s Republican nomination. He instead attacked Democrats and President Obama’s health care bill, saying the repeal of Obamacare would be high on his to-do list if elected.
“What we have to do is get the government out of the way,” Paul said, “allowing you to make your own decisions about your medical care. We want to advance the cause of liberty to such an extreme that we want to return to the times when we were allowed to drink raw milk if we wanted to.”
Paul had strong words for economist Paul Krugman who he debated earlier this week about the state of the nation’s economy. In the April 30 face-off, Paul told Krugman that intervening in a free market would jeopardize U.S. prosperity. Krugman responded that having a totally free market would take the global economy back about 150 years.
During Wednesday’s appearance, Paul told the audience, “Those who argue, like a certain economist argued with me this week, that I was going back a whole hundred years, but the truth is (those) who promote tyranny want to go back thousands of years because that’s what most of history has been all about.”
Paul ended his hour-long speech with a call for Republican voters to help him realize his dream for the nation.
“We may lose a battle here and there,” he said, “but we are going to win the war because we’re on the right side of history. We can win the hearts and mind of people who want to live in a free society.”

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Too bad Doctor Paul is a wing nut. Half of you dopes couldn't survive one day in the dog-eat-dog society envisioned by this anti-government "libertarian." Wake up, he's also been playing badminton with Mitt cuz he wants Baby Rand to get a job in the new Romney Admin which is never gonna get elected anyway. Where do all u idiots come from?
Where do we all come from? We come from many places; we come from the Founding Fathers most of whom believed in individual liberty, and a severe limitation of the National Government. We came from history, a history that confirms conclusively the connection between liberty and prosperity. We come from the “Free Market”, the only system that has done anything to improve the lives of the poor. We come from morality, and spurn the theft of wealth redistribution. We come from logic, the logic that dictates that if you earn an A, no part of that A can be shared with an F, making you both Cs. Lastly, we come from free speech that tolerates your baseless name calling.
California, to vote for Ron Paul you must register Republican by May 21 to vote in June 5 Republican primary, EVEN if you are currently registered Independent.California just switched to open primaries, however they are open for everything except the presidental race.

It's too late.
The end has already begun for the donklephant (the supposed "2 party system") establishment.
Weather or not Dr. Paul wins the nomination is of no consequence. The Paul campaign and it's supporters are like Navy Seal Team 6 vs the local PTA. We are infinitely more organized, motivated and educated about the election process. We are winning delegates at an exponential rate. We will not compromise on our values when it comes to the convention.
Our message is liberty. The message is infectious and once infected it is terminal. Once a Ron Paul / Rand Paul / Liberty convert we will NEVER switch back. We, just like the special forces are "force multipliers" we "infect" those around us with the message of liberty and those infected go forth and infect more. The establishment can play it's games and squeeze Ron Paul out of this election, but we have Rand Paul a young man cut from the same cloth that has a VERY VERY long political life ahead of him who we will support in exactly that same way as we have Dr. Paul.
So you see establishment, it's already over. The liberty infection takes hold at the very nature of all Americans and human beings...there is but one cure and that is to remove our chains and we are picking the locks right now.
I am a 62 year old woman. Last Saturday I voted in a Massachusetts' Republican caucus for the first time in my life.
I found the Ron Paul supporters to be mature, well-spoken, responsible. I could tell it was difficult for some of the members of the Paul's Liberty slate to get up and speak in front of the large crowd for three minutes because they were nervous. They had worked hard on their speeches, and these same Americans, when they spoke, were very sincere and thoughtful. They came from all walks of life. There was a woman accountant, an engineer, a college student, among others.
Romney's slate was composed of well-known politician friends of his giving the standard slick and empty speeches who spoke too long, 7 minutes for one. (3 minutes were allotted for each candidate).
The Liberty Slate won 5 of 6 delegates in the 6th District of Romney's home state of Massachusetts.
Members of the old Republican party need to make room for new life and ideas in their party. I saw a level of maturity, intelligence, and commitment to make good things happen for this country at the caucus and was impressed by Ron Paul's Liberty supporters. They are the real Patriots, average Americans - just like of old. I am very proud of them.
This is the way to heal our great country.
Please share this.
Hi, I was at the same caucus, District 6. I am 42, and have never attended a caucus in my life. Saturday was one of the best days I have lived, so far. I'm glad you were a part of it! :)
It was state senator Bruce Tarr from Gloucester who spoke for 7 minutes. I intend to work with the chairman next time to ensure that candidates get a fair, even share of the mic. That's right: something inside me changed that day, and I am fully on board for liberty, and will be spending my resources (time and money) to support this cause.
He also modified his prepared speech (as a Romney Slate candidate), so that he would include "Ronald Reagan" many times. Why? The name of the slate for the Ron Paul supporters was the "Ronald Reagan Unity Liberty Slate", and his strategy appeared to be successful, because he came in second place with 115 votes; there was a tie for third place (114), and there were seven provisional ballots that to this date have not been opened (rather concerning...) -- and it is mathematically possible that the Liberty Slate wins all six delegates for District 6.
The best part? Had I not shown up, it would not have been a tie for third; the Romney Slate candidates would have taken two spots.
Woody Allen said, "90% of success in life is showing up." It felt so good to align with success.
Additionally, Kerry Healey was a Romney Slate candidate and she fled the Lynnfield High School after the delegate votes. For the alternate votes, her name was written on the board on the stage, and then someone told them that she had removed herself from the running. ("In disgust" were the next two words my brain offered.)
Similar to your experience in the foyer, I encountered someone who was angry that the democratic process was working. (Consider that sentence for a couple minutes; witness the cognitive dissonance.)
It might even have been the same lady. She refused to shake hands with me, saying "I'm not shaking your hand; you're taking over our party". I responded with "I don't think you know what you're talking about", and she then turned to my friend (who I think she didn't know was my friend, as I had walked up just then) and started to say how evil I was because I was a Ron Paul supporter (and knew the rules, although perhaps she was not savvy enough to understand that last part), and my friend said "you won't shake his hand but you want to talk to ME about him?"
Normally I don't like to "gossip" or talk about other people's mistakes, but in this case I like how my friend and I reacted to this lady: both of us gave a response that could help her see what she's doing -- that attacking people who got up early on a Saturday morning so that they could participate in the democratic process is not the appropriate response; these are people to hug, not yell at.
Thank you for being there. Let us heal.
I was there... seeing him speak in person was AWESOME! His entrance to the stadium with the the Flash Gordon song was perfect!
