In what should prove to be a very private screening, Marvel Studios and its parent company, Disney, are teaming up with NASA to bring the blockbuster hit to the men and women of the International Space Station (ISS).

“The studio is privileged to share Marvel’s The Avengers with those up in space exploring the universe,” said Louis D’Esposito, Marvel Studios’ Co-President in a press release Thursday.

“A special thanks goes to NASA for utilizing their incredible technology to make this special screening miles above us in space happen. It is a screening that would make Tony Stark envious”

This will be possible via an uplink between NASA’s Mission Control Center in Houston and the space station, which is currently orbiting some 220 miles over those of us stuck here on Earth.

It’s also not the first time NASA and Marvel Studios have teamed up—some of the shooting for “The Avengers” took place at NASA’s Space Power Facility at NASA’s Plum Brook Station in Sandusky, Ohio.

The crew of the ISS consists of six members, including two NASA astronauts and three Russian cosmonauts (it was not immediately clear if Russian subtitles for the film will be provided or needed).

The current mission, Expedition 31, launched in April of this year and is expected to last through sometime in July, so if DC Comics wants to up the ante and screen “The Dark Knight Rises” (which comes out July 20), it still has a few weeks to figure out the logistics of bringing the IMAX experience to outer space.
