The May Day protesters had some company from Occupy L.A. on Tuesday afternoon as their marches took over downtown L.A.'s streets.  Both groups had a variety of things to protest this election season including corrupt greed, gay rights, better jobs, education and immigration laws.  The rally was expected to draw nearly 100,000 people as well as residents who came out to their balconies, waving flags as the rally passed by. Children also participated in the rally, holding banners that read, "Don't deport my parents."

The protests were lined with police officers, though the day was relatively peaceful with one injury and several voluntary arrests near Los Angeles International Airport.  NBC reported that at the downtown protests, "a female officer was hit by a skateboard after an interaction with a protester at Fourth and Hill streets downtown, Los Angeles Police Department Cmdr. Andy Smith said. The officer was taken to a local hospital and is in good condition.  The suspect remains outstanding, Smith said. No other injuries have been reported."
