Lifetime Television is home to "Grey's Anatomy," "How I Met Your Mother," "Desperate Housewives," and "Project Runway." One wouldn't exactly associate it with anything in the genre of "Silence of the Lambs", and yet it is Lifetime that is currently developing a spinoff from this classic horror film.

Winning five Oscars in 2001––an unprecedented achievement for the genre––the film is about a young FBI agent, Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster), and her relationship with Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), an incarcerated cannibalistic serial killer.

According to TV Guide, the show will take place shortly after Clarice's graduation from the FBI academy; thus, the show would take place before the events of "Silence of the Lambs."

Meanwhile, NBC is also in the later stages of a thirteen episode series called "Hannibal" which will follow Hannibal Lecter's relationship with agent Will Graham and will also chronologically precede the original film. Hugh Dancy will be playing the part of the FBI agent; however, the title character of Hannibal Lecter is yet to be cast.
