Fresh off the announcement that it will be back for a 4th season this fall, “Community” is giving its fans more reasons to rejoice with back-to-back-to-back episodes this Thursday on NBC starting at 8 p.m. as part of the season finale.

Most exciting of all, the leadoff episode, “Digital Estate Planning,” will feature 8-bit video game versions of America’s favorite study group.

The gang will be playing to help Pierce (Chevy Chase) keep his inheritance against guest star Giancarlo Esposito, best known for being the benevolent owner of a fast-food chicken franchise on “Breaking Bad,” and a preview of the episode can be watched here.

Critics have praised “Community” for its willingness to try experimental episodes. In the past three years fans have been treated to to two paintball episodes, a Claymation episode, a fake clip show episode, a "Dungeons and Dragons" episode, and an episode about the horrors of meeting LaVar Burton. It has also been willing to do episodes that aren't meant to always be funny, most notably an episode about how Christmas isn't necessarily a joyous time for everyone. This variety to satisfy those looking for humor and depth have made "Community" unique in the comedy landscape.

Despite the critical acclaim and a very passionate and loyal fanbase, “Community” has struggled in the ratings department from the get-go and was placed on hiatus in December by NBC, though NBC promised the move was always temporary.

Fan reaction was swift with protests across every social media platform conceivable and even flash mobs popped up outside the Rockefeller Center in New York. New episodes returned in March along with news that the show will be syndicated.

Since its return, ratings have improved and the show is guaranteed a 13-episode order this fall with the possibility of more depending on performance.

If you haven't already been watching, you should definitely be tuning in starting tomorrow night unless you want this to turn into the darkest timeline.
