The Trojans practiced shorter than normal, but the day was not devoid of any news, including a possible big injury and a frontrunner starter at left tackle.

MADDEN KNEE INJURY: After a successful pair of weeks at running back, sophomore Tre Madden suffered an apparent knee injury after a run where he did not sustain contact. Currently, his injury status is unknown.

WALKER LEFT TACKLE LEADER: When asked about Aundray Walker’s move to left tackle at practice, USC coach Lane Kiffin responded that should there be a game tomorrow, Walker would be the starter. See Kiffin’s press conference below:

DEFENSE RACKS UP TURNOVERS: Continuing it success through spring, the defense intercepted USC quarterbacks twice throughout practice. Kiffin praised the defense’s ability to create turnovers but also realized the offense needs to continue its fall 2011 performance of only having seven interceptions.

BANGED UP TIGHT ENDS: Though Xavier Grimble participated Thursday, Randall Telfer re-aggravated his hamstring injury after participating Tuesday, rendering him unable to practice Thursday. The redshirt sophomore broke freshman-tight end receiving records in 2011 and looking to improve upon his blocking when he becomes healthy. See what else Telfer had to say about including Matt Barkley and the other offensive playmakers (Note: the video is still processing. It will be up shortly).
