Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester Jr., a 15-year native of the bench, is the newest judge to be assigned to the Florida murder case of George Zimmerman, after two judges set aside the case citing conflicts of interests.

Circuit Judge Jessica Recksiedler is married to the law partner of Mark NeJame, who will be providing case commentary to CNN, according to the Mercury News.  Judge Recksiedler recused herself at the request of Zimmerman’s attorney.

John Galluzzo, the second circuit judge assigned to the case in random rotation, practiced law at one time with Mark O’Mara, who represents Zimmerman and is the godfather of one of Judge Galluzzo’s children.

Lester, a Vietnam veteran who ran a private law practice for 17 years, is known for swift decisions and tough sentences.  Attorney Wayne Klinkbeil, reports the Mercury News, was assigned to Judge Lester’s courtroom when Lester defeated an incumbent judge in an election.  Lester is a good judge, Klinkbeil says, "very in control of his courtroom, very straightforward with expectations.
