Taylor Swift may be considering acting as a larger part of her career.

The singer-songwriter is in talks to play Joni Mitchell in a biopic about the legendary Canadian singer. The film will be an adaptation of Sheila Weller’s book “Girls Like Us,” according to Variety.

It will chronicle the lives of three of the most influential female musicians in America: Carole King, Carly Simon, and Joni Mitchell.  Each musician portrays very different stories in the book. King is from a middle-class family, living in New York city’s outer boroughs. Simon is the child of Manhattan’s elite and Mitchell is the grandchild of Canadian farmers.

According to an insider, Swift has not had a final deal with the project and an offer has not yet been made to Swift, though she is highly desirable candidate.

MTV News spoke to Swift back in March, where she expressed how acting “fascinated” her. “I love the idea that you can tell a story in that way,” she said. “I’ve been reading scripts for about five years. In my free time, that’s all I do is read scripts.”

While the 22-year-old is interested in acting, she understands the huge commitment behind it. “I just want to make decisions really carefully. I think, with movies, it’s really important that you have to love something so much that you cannot think about anything else,” she continued. “If you’re going to go become someone else, that’s a huge deal. That’s a huge commitment, and I would want to have the time and eh ability and the love for something and the love for a character to where I could really make that commitment to it.”

“Girls Like Us” is to be directed by “House” executive producer Katie Jacobs from John Sayles script. Lorenzo di Bonaventura is also producing.

Other actresses in mind are Allison Pill, who played Zelda Fitzgerald in Woody Allen’s "Midnight In Paris."  Shooting is expected to start by the end of the year once all three main leads are in place.

Swift has had a successful run this past year with her song “Eyes Open” and “Safe & Sound” featured on "The Hunger Games" soundtrack.  She also made her acting debut in 2010’s Valentine’s Day and had a voice role this year in "The Lorax."
