Last Saturday, biKa Swimwear showcased their new Spring/Summer 2012 collection. People gathered at the top of TENTEN Wilshire, a building in downtown Los Angeles, and the runway was literally around the rooftop pool -- which of course, would be the ideal spot to reveal a new swimwear collection.

Ambika Sajana, the founder and designer of biKa, based this season's designs on the culture of the desert state of Rajputani. Combining bold color, opulent fabrics and royal embellishments, her new collection incorporated block printing and dyeing with modern design and elements. Each piece, even down to the gold adornments around the neckline of a cover-up, was bold. This was obvious in the choice of prints on most swimsuits -- these were not meant to be worn by the sheepish. 

Sajana designed two swimsuits that caught my eye -- same design, different colors. The entire front was sequined either black or white, with two pink lines running diagonally across the body. These two swimsuits really embodied the sexy confidence that Sajana wanted to project in her swimwear line this season, and this same attribute can be said about all of her designs in her Rajputani collection.

Her newest swimsuits might be a bit pricey for the women who are looking for an average swimsuit. But if you plan on having a flashy summer break, plan on rocking a swimsuit by biKa!
