Donuts, and the 24-hour shops which so freely poulate the city, have become a cultural staple of Los Angeles. Who doesn't, after all, love a gooey conconction of fried dough, frosted with sugary glaze or filled with sweet, fruity jellies or a lucious assortment of other delicious creams.

This weekend, you'll be able to enjoy the city's best donuts from a variety of places, all right across the street from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art located in the Miracle Mile. ForYourArt's "Around the Clock: 24 Hour Donut City" will celebrate the tasty treat by offering - you guessed it- donuts for 24 consecutive hours. Best part - the little delights are free (at least as long as supplies last).

The event is timed to coincide with LACMA's 24 hour-screening of Christian Marclay's "The Clock" (the screening, by the way, is also free). And yes - the movie is actually 24-hours long.

According to KNBC: "The movie is 24 hours long and features thousands of clips of -- wait for it -- clocks and watches and timepieces, all of which happen to show the actual time the viewer is occupying." And L.A. Weekly: "Marclay, who was profiled in a lengthy article in last week's The New Yorker, spent three years compiling thousands of hours' worth of scenes from television and film where the time or a clock is shown, organizing them by hour and editing them together into one giant collage" How very meta.

Free donuts begin at 12:00 p.m. on March 24th and end at 12:00 p.m. on March 25th. Every two hours, a different L.A. area donut shop will feature one of its donuts. Among the 12 donut shops that will be at the event (and the donuts they are featuring): Stan's Donuts (chocolate cream puff), Nickel Diner (bacon maple donut), Randy's Donuts (apple fritter), UMAMIcatessen (tres leches donut) and The Donut Hole (glazed coconut donut).
