No. 1 Syracuse survived a scare on Thursday, avoiding becoming the first-ever No. 1 to get knocked out of the NCAA Tournament by a No. 16 seed in the first (second) round.

But not before a little controversy.

UNC Asheville trailed by only three points with about 35 seconds left before Syracuse inbounded the ball. Video replays indicate that the inbounded ball clearly went off a Syracuse player, but instead the possession remained with the Orange.

A second controversial call also has UNC-Asheville fans upset. This one came about one minute before the out-of-bounds call, and was a rare lane-violation against UNC Asheville.
