"The Voice:" Let The Battle Rounds Begin

As the judges prepared the duos for their performances, they brought in some celebrity mentors to give the singers another perspective. Cee-Lo Green called upon legendary Babyface and Ne-Yo to give his team a better understanding of control. Blake Shelton brought in country superstars Miranda Lambert and Kelly Clarkson to shed light on how to stay true to country roots. Adam Levine called upon Alanis Morissette & Robin Thicke, while Christina Aguilera chose the legendary Lionel Ritchie & Jewel. Each of the contestants performances were enhanced because they were able to really listen and use their advice.
For Team Adam, Chris Cauley & former Mouseketeer Tony Lucca, brought down the house singing "Beautiful Day." Their harmonies together and stage presence made for an entertaining cover. Ultimately, Tony went forward to the live shows, because of his consistent tone.
The country duo of Adley Stump & Raelynn for Team Blake took the stage singing "Free Falling." Raelynn, stole the attention from Adley proving that she has potential and a reason to be on that stage. She will definitely be an asset to him in the live shows.
Monique Benabou & classically trained Chris Mann sang a show stopping rendition of "Power of Love" by Celine Dion. Her smooth, soulful sound and his operatic sound made for an unbelievable duo. This was one of the most difficult decisions of the night because they both proved themselves. Yet, with one extraordinary note, Chris Mann moved on to the live shows. Jordis Unga's rocker tone moved her forward for Team Blake, while Cheesa showed future potential in Cee-Lo's eyes beating out Angie Johnson.
The BEST performance of the night was of course the final round between Anthony Evans and Jesse Campbell. They sang Alicia Keys "If I Ain't Got You" sending chills throughout the audience and making everyone feel what they felt. Both of them fought to the death and thoroughly impressed everyone of the judges giving them a deserving standing ovation. As difficult of a decision it was for Christina, she went with Jesse Campbell, but at that point they should have weakened the rules to let them both stay. Oh well, that's what makes this show so incredible!
Make sure to tune in for round two of the battle rounds Monday at 8 p.m. on NBC.
