The second day of USC spring practice is in the books, and while the team still practiced in shorts and helmets, plenty occurred in preparation for Saturday’s first padded practice.

SERRA REIGNS SUPREME: After wideout George Farmer was called the MVP of day one by coach Lane Kiffin, his former high-school teammate Marqise Lee was given that honor Thursday. When asked about if he was impressed with a jumping catch Lee made, Kiffin stated, “The good thing is I don’t know which one you’re referring to.”

YOUNG LINEBACKING CORPS IMPROVING: Last season, the Trojans featured two freshman linebackers to start the year -- Dion Bailey and Hayes Pullard -- and eventually started a third by season’s end -- Lamar Dawson. The green group will have to adjust to a new linebacker coach, Scottie Hazleton, this spring. Though many second-string players played today, running backs Curtis McNeal and D.J. Morgan looked very speedy, blasting past the three backers.

WOODS NOT 100%: Junior receiver Robert Woods participated in the early part of practice, but left about halfway through. Woods underwent ankle surgery in December and is still rehabbing to full health. Kiffin mentioned Woods would be re-evaluated after USC’s spring break -- this upcoming week. Farmer additionally left practice with an apparent hamstring injury.
