[LISTEN] Romney Tells "Humorous" Tale Of Father's Layoffs
Get ready for a knee-slapper.
Mitt Romney's father, George Romney — former president of American Motors — once shut down a factory in Michigan and moved all production to Wisconsin.
... Crickets?
Romney's odd sense of humor struck again on Wednesday during a town-hall meeting with Wisconsin voters, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
During his 35-minute conference call, Romney, in an attempt to appeal to the voters of Wisconsin, talked about a "humorous" story about how his father had difficulty running for governor of Michigan after moving car production out of the state, and into Wisconsin.
The remark was the latest in a number of remarks from the GOP hopeful that Democrats have targeted as proof that Romney is out of touch with middle-class America.
In a response to the controversy stirring over the remarks, Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom tweeted "You know what's 'humorous'? Caterwauling from the Dems about Mitt's recall of a campaign story involving his dad. #fakeoutrage."
Other quotables from Romney have included, "Ann has a couple of Cadillacs," "I'm not concerned about the very poor," and "I like being able to fire people who provide services to me."
