French Gunman Claims Ties To Al Qaeda
Details continue to emerge about the suspected French gunman who killed three Jewish children, a rabbi and three paratroopers before a raid on his apartment Wednesday, including his self-proclaimed ties to al Qaeda.
The suspect "expresses no regret, only that he didn't have time to have more victims," prosecutor Francois Molins said. "And he even bragged, he said, of bringing France to its knees."
French police are currently engaged in a tense standoff with the suspect, 23-year-old Mohammed Merah, at his Toulouse apartment.
The killings, Merah said, were revenge for the deaths of Palestinian children, according to Molins.
According to the New York Times, Merah admitted to planning at least three more killings before hundreds of officers surrounded his home.
