Food Truck Spotlight: Armando's
Armando’s has delicious food, and you can count on him being at the same place every day. He recently relocated from his spot on the USC campus and now parks on Jefferson and McClintock from early morning until mid-afternoon Monday through Friday.
Armando’s consistent hub has earned him many loyal customers, many of whom he considers friends. Armando takes pride in feeding a considerable amount of the USC student athlete population. Notable players such as Mark Sanchez, Lendale White and Matt Barkley have created their own favorites that are now staples on Armando’s menu.
One of the most famous sandwiches is the Lendale. It is a breakfast lover’s ideal sandwich. It is a sourdough sandwich with jelly, a hashbrown patty, sausage, bacon, and cheese. Although the jelly may seem like an odd choice, the sweetness works magically well with the fried taste of the hashbrown and the other savory ingredients. Armando has plenty of other breakfast options and is open to customers making their own variations.
He also has many lunch options, including sandwiches, tacos and burritos. The Arizona steak sandwich is quite good. This steak sandwich comes with avocado, sautéed mushrooms and onions, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Although this hunk of a sandwich is priced well at $5.00, it is definitely worth the extra money to ask for double meat. The meat itself is well seasoned and compliments the other ingredients; however, it is a very thin slice. The same goes for the chicken sandwiches.
Armando’s food truck is certainly worth a visit. Some would argue it is worth a daily visit. If you are in a rush, you can even text Armando your order, and it will be ready within 15 minutes. Unlike other food trucks, there is no guessing where he will be parked that day. Monday through Friday he parks his unassuming white food truck in the exact same place.
