Defending Premier League champions Manchester United eased past relegation candidates Wolverhampton on Sunday with a scoreline of 5-0, and in the process moved four points clear of rivals Manchester City, as City play Chelsea on Wednesday night at the Etihad.

United controlled the game at the Molineux from start to finish, as Hernandez notched up an impressive brace, while Evans, Welbeck and Valencia all got on to the scoresheet. Sir Alex Ferguson's side now have won eight of their last nine league games and are in supreme form (save for their exit from the Europa League), with nine games left in the 2011-12 Premier League season.

Elsewhere, Chelsea's record signing Fernando Torres finally ended his goal drought which had lasted over 25 hours of on-field time, as the Blues thrashed Leicester at the Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Chelsea were cruising at half time with two early goals from Gary Cahill and Salomon Kalou, and eventually won the game 5-2. Torres was involved in a majority of Chelsea's attacks, and eventually set up and scored two goals each.

Swansea picked up yet another win against Fulham on Saturday as Brendan Rodgers's side continue to dumbfound critics all over, winning 3-0 at the Craven Cottage. Sigurdsson's brace and a goal from Joe Allen ensured that Swansea climbed up to 8th in the Premier League standings. Swansea's excellent form so far can be brought down to their ability to defend - Swansea have now recorded 12 clean sheets in the Premier League, a record that is only bettered by both clubs in Manchester, who have 13 clean sheets so far this season.

Michel Vorm has played an integral part in Swansea's recent fortunes.

Strong contenders for this year's Europa League spots, Newcastle notched up their first win in five Premier League games, as Cisse's goal against Norwich on Sunday was enough to beat The Canaries 1-0 at St. James Park.

Meanwhile, Fabrice Muamba's condition has shown signs of improvement, after going into cardiac arrest during Bolton's FA Cup fixture against Tottenham on Saturday. The Congo-born midfielder is still at the London Chest Hospital's intensive care unit, but is now able to breathe independently without a ventilator, and has been able to recognize members of his family and respond to their questions properly. Wishes have been coming in for the midfielder from all over the world, with tributes and messages laid outside the Reebok Stadium from fans of a number of clubs.
