Defensive lineman Aziz Shittu of Buhach High School in Awater, Calif., signed with the Stanford football team, he announced Wednesday.

The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder chose the Cardinal over fellow California schools USC, Cal and UCLA, among other offers.

Shittu is rated as a five-star recruit by Rivals, and a four-star player by Scout and ESPN. Rivals ranked Shittu as the No. 3 D-line prospect in the country, and the No. 27 prospect overall. Scout had him as the nation's No. 14 DT prospect, and ESPN ranked him at No. 17 among defensive tackles.

He has the strength to play interior line, according to Scout's Brandon Huffman, so he could line up as a tackle in Stanford's scheme.
