Winter is here, though spring is near - and that means a slew of new trends. Robust colors and floral patterns still grace the palattes of the spring/summer 2012 preview collections. In the spirit of springtime, new styles are blooming.

White Heels

Myth or truth: wearing white shoes after Labor Day is a total fashion faux pa. According to the Spring/Summer 2012 collection previews, white shoes will be gracing the New York fashion week runways despite the wellknown saying. Some of the hottest designers have jumped on the bandwagon. Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and Pucci are some of the trendsetters.

Slipping your feet into subtle pearly-whites compliments spring’s color-blocking and bold floral prints.  But there’s no reason to break the bank if you want to walk in something white.  While Calvin Klein’s alabaster pump runs for $860, Jessica Simpson makes a platform that is equally as stylish.  The COCOA shoe, which is $98, is perfectly balanced with caramel-colored leather and white linen.

Short Suits

Stay cool yet collected with a short-suit debut. Spring/Summer 2012 introduces this trend. The short-suit look is ideal for the warm weather that is to come. While wearing suit-like shorts may seem a bit casual for the workplace, a fitted blazer makes for an ideal professional duo.

The previews introduce this look in different prints, fabrics and colors. For a soft look, try pastel hues like powder blue, lavender, yellow and peach. These muted spring colors radiate femininity. Or, jazz up the tailored-suit silhouette with bold floral or paisley patterns, like Jil Sander’s collection.

Aqua clothing, which is featured at Bloomingdales, has a variety of budget-friendly options. The line has fitted blazers and suit-shorts to choose from. They are excellent for pairing or mixing and matching.

Bold Earrings

Glitz and glam have yet to get old – especially with bold earrings. Although they say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, anything big, bold or sparkly works for this trend.

Throw on a pair of statement earrings to jazz up a not-so-exciting outfit. The showy pieces will pull the attention away from your plain frame. Or, adorn yourself in some chunky earrings even if your outfit is more elaborate. The mix of colors paired with different stone shapes and textures gives off a swanky yet trendy look, a la Oscar de la Renta.

Francesca's Collection has a host of earrings - ranging from feathers, jewels, stones and chains - that are affordable and fashionable. So bring back the chandeliers and hoops of the 90s because this season, bold is beautiful.
