A storm that traveled through the Midwest Tuesday night spawned possible tornadoes that killed at least 11 people in Illinois and Missouri.

Three people were injured in Kansas after a tornado supposedly touched the ground, The Daily Beast reports.

The U.S. Storm Prediction Center said that 16 tornado sightings were reported between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning across the Midwest.

The storm moved from the Rockies across the Ohio and Tennessee River valleys, reports the Associated Press.

The tornadoes have also smashed homes and businesses in six states, according to Reuters.

The town of Harrisburg, IL was hit particularly hard.

"There are semis toppled, cars thrown into lakes, and everything else. It's nothing like I've ever seen and hope to never see again," Harrisburg Mayor Eric Gregg told Reuters.

Gregg said the city has sustained millions of dollars in damage.

The town of Branson, Mo. has also been hit hard and seen substantial damage to hotels and theaters, according to The Daily Beast.

The governors of Illinois, Missouri and Kansas have declared emergencies.
