After the Nevada caucus, Mitt Romney is in the lead of the GOP field with 97 delegates. Newt Gingrich is in second with 26 delegates, Ron Paul is in third with 14 delegates and Rick Santorum is in fourth with 10 delegates.

A candidate must accumulate 1,144 of the 2,286 delegates available in order to receive the Republican nomination.

So far only a handful of states have held their primaries. Here are the states that are still to come:

An unbound delegate is not required to follow the results of the other delegates in the state. The unbound delegates vote at the convention at the end of the race. More than 20 percent of GOP delegates are unbound, reports ABC News.

A caucus is where party members meet to select a candidate. Rules vary from state to state. A primary is where voters go to a polling place to cast a secret ballot.

The GOP convention will be the week of Aug. 27.
