Santorum Looks Ahead To Michigan And Arizona
Santorum told ABC’s “This Week” that he will be aggressive ahead of the Feb. 28 primaries in Michigan and Arizona, reports The Daily Beast.
In his interview, Santorum also said that Romney’s recent criticisms of him show Romney is panicking.
Romney only narrowly won Saturday’s Maine caucus over Ron Paul. Santorum finished in third.
Romney’s win ended his three-state losing streak in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri to Santorum.
Santorum said a strong showing in Arizona and Michigan, though, would prove the election is still a “two-man race” between himself and Romney and called Romney “desperate,” reports the Associated Press.
Romney has been painting Santorum as a Washington insider; one who pursued home-state projects.
Romney has a huge financial advantage over his GOP rivals. He left Maine before the results were announced to attend a fundraiser. He is also expected to spend much of the next week “courting donors,” and attending more campaign events, according to the AP.
Romney’s toughest obstacle is still his moderate past, which alienates him from some more conservative voters. Santorum has long been considered a staunch conservative.
