Tension continues to skyrocket as the girls—and their moms—get closer to figuring out who ‘A’ is.

In this week’s episode of “Pretty Little Liars,” a father-daughter school dance was ironically scheduled amidst deteriorating relationships between the girls and their fathers.

While Hanna was bitter about her dad’s failure to show up to the dance, the other girls appeared to have wanted just that.

Aria continued to despise her father’s overbearing attitude and irreversible decision to keep her away from Ezra, her forbidden love.

In addition, Spencer’s distrust of her father following Jason’s revealed relationship to the Hastings family continued to grow this week as she questioned his past expenditures.

Last week, Melissa became the prime suspect of who ‘A’ is, and Spencer was lured out of the house without her cellphone.

This week’s episode opened with their sisterly talk, and Melissa revealed to Spencer regrets she had in maintaining a close relationship with Officer Garrett.

She also revealed that she was sending threatening text messages to Allison before she disappeared for flirting with Ian and that she mentioned these messages to their father.

When Spencer discovered a check stub for $15,000 in her father’s desk, everything suddenly seemed to make sense. He did pay Allie to keep her mouth shut about Jason…right?

Wrong!

After the dance, which was more of a two-step and some fake smiles here and there, the Hastings duo went back to their house.

Spencer’s dad noticed his gun missing—creepy—and Spencer found a portfolio of Allie’s photographs—even creepier—on his desk.

Why does Spencer’s dad have Allison’s photos? Why did he write a check for $15,000? What else (besides Jason being his son) could he possibly be lying about?

Well, according to him, the photos were given to a hired private investigator, which also explains the $15,000 he spent.

More importantly, he gave his reasons for hiring the investigator, saying he wanted to protect “someone he really cared about.”

Given the circumstances, Jason automatically came to mind, until Spencer’s father revealed his attempts to protect none other than the new prime suspect, Melissa.

Meanwhile, Emily and her father looked for Maya, who is still missing, Hanna’s mom met secretly with Officer Wilden to find answers but received nothing more than a lie from Aria, and the girls received another phone call from Vivian Darkbloom’s friend, Jonah.

The episode concluded with the girls learning more about Allie’s anonymous text messages.

After talking to Jonah, they learned that Allie was receiving messages from more than one source, meaning Melissa is no longer the sole suspect.

The girls went to the general location of the second source’s text messages and were met with two surprises: a boutique store with the same dolls that ‘A’ sent them last season, and a handsome young man who mistook Aria for Vivian Darkbloom.

Watch next week’s episode to find out who this mysterious man is. He’s probably not ‘A’, but hey girls, at least he’s something nice to look at, right?
