A gunman opened fire in a high school in Chardon, Ohio Monday, leaving one student dead and four injured.

Five injured students were taken to local hospitals and one later died.

The suspect, who is believed to be a student at the school, was taken into custody after opening fire in a cafeteria before 8 a.m.

According to the Associated Press:

The suspect was taken into custody near his car about half a mile from the suburban Cleveland school, said FBI agent Vicki Anderson.

He hasn't been charged, and his name isn't being released because he is a juvenile.

It is believed that a teacher chased the gunman from the school.  The identity of the teacher has not yet been revealed.

The Los Angeles Times reported:

Student Heather Ziska said she was in the building when she and other students began hearing popping noises in a nearby hallway.

The 17-year-old junior told the Associated Press that she then saw a boy with a gun -- whom she recognized as a fellow student -- come into the cafeteria and start shooting.

Students were sent home with their parents and all classes in the school district were canceled, according to the Associated Press.
