Obama Campaign To Support Obama Super PACs
According to Reuters, Obama’s campaign manager Jim Messina said in an email to supporters that campaign and White House officials and some Obama cabinet members would now speak and attend events by fundraising group Priorities USA.
“We can’t afford for the work you’re doing in your communities, and the grassroots donations you give to support it, to be destroyed by hundreds of millions of dollars in negative ads,” Messina said.
He said that Super PACs affiliated with Republican presidential candidates have spent more than $40 million in the last few months on negative ads.
“With so much at stake, we can’t allow for two sets of rules in this election whereby the Republican nominee is the beneficiary of unlimited spending and Democrats unilaterally disarm,” he said.
Obama’s campaign said it wouldn’t be lending its support to the super PAC’s sister organization that doesn’t have to disclose the names of its donors, CBS News reported, and said it all donations to the super PAC would be disclosed.
