4:40 PST: The show starts!

Monique Lhuillier’s Fall 2012 collection did not disappoint. Although the collection was a lot bolder than her usual slew of gowns like the ones from her Spring 2012 collection, this round of dresses showed some of the finest eveningwear and will surely be seen on the red carpet. Red and black lace, leather, and sequins were the common motifs on the runway, both alone and paired. The collection’s entire concept was based around contrasting ideas.

The show opened with a red lace detailing and black leather dress, which started out a number of gowns with similar silhouettes. The red and black were present during the entire show, which only a few deviations of plum, gold, and silver.

Aside from the colors, lace, leather, and sequins were on almost every single gown. Whether each design was present by itself or paired together, Lhuillier  made each gown spectacularly work.

Furthermore, the ready-to-wear collection was bold but minimalist at the same time. Lhuillier aesthetically combined daring cut-outs and conservative structures in her designs.

Impossible to miss was Lhuillier’s finale gown, a red stunner that had sheer cutouts and a fabulous red train that the designer adds in each collection. Ending the show with that said gown reminds fans of Lhuillier’s genius creativity.

There were also appearances of leather gloves, fur, and bold hip-slits added into the collection.

All the models wore natural eye make-up with firey red lips. This bold but minimalist look was complemented with structured hair, either wavy and gelled back or in a half-up and half-down style.

The only setback in this amazing show is the models; it is a shame that these models do not know how to walk in these beautiful gowns. At least three models visibly stumbled in the show, wearing to-die-for gowns no less.

With her Fall 2012 collection, Monique Lhuillier has a hit in her hands. Her daring move to make this collection bolder than her usual style definitely paid off.
