In the second half of the two-part season two premiere for “Khloe & Lamar,” Khloe Kardashian keeps a protective eye on best friend Malika’s rocky love life, and Lamar Odom's skewed sleep schedule prompts Khloe to go through with some desperate measures.

While lounging around the kitchen with Lamar, Malika, and Rob, Khloe discusses Malika’s relationship with boyfriend and Arizona Cardinals player Adrian Wilson. Always the loyal and caring friend, Khloe says she’s protective over Malika’s situation.

Malika had said, after all, that she would never date a guy with children – and Adrian’s got three of them. Not to mention, he’s in the middle of a divorce that has yet to be made official.

Meanwhile, the stress of the NBA lockout is giving Lamar some sleeping issues. He claims he almost has too much time off, and it’s causing him to wake up at sporadic hours and become distracted for no apparent reason.

The lockout seems to have affected more than one person in this household. Lamar’s sleep deprivation and middle-of-the-night snack breaks and TV-watching is extremely frustrating for Khloe. It’s keeping her up as well, and she’s not happy about it.

The next day, Lamar and Khloe meet up for a meal with Malika and Adrian. Khloe is extremely interested in getting to know Adrian, and arrives with a somewhat intimidating BFF vibe. “She’s my best friend,” Khloe says, “and I’m gonna ask the questions that need to be asked.”

Upon questioning from Khloe, Adrian says he’s been married for almost ten years. Khloe also discovers that Malika has not met any of his three children yet. Given Adrian’s relatively quick turnaround from his estranged wife, Khloe is skeptical of his seriousness and commitment toward Malika.

Lamar’s backwards bedtime schedule makes Khloe so sleep-deprived that she oversleeps. Malika has to come to her house just to wake her up and ensure she gets ready in a hustle for a photo shoot with sisters Kim and Kourtney. Khloe? Late? Never – it just doesn’t happen. Bring on the stress.

On the way to the photo shoot, Khloe prods Malika about her situation with Adrian, expressing that it’s naive to date someone who isn’t officially divorced. Malika, whose father was engaged to someone while still married to her mother, knows that these situations put the kids in awkward and uncomfortable situations – “but at the same time,” she says, “I can’t help the way I feel.”

At the photo shoot, Khloe can barely keep her eyes open. Kim suggests that one of the reasons Khloe hasn’t been able to get pregnant might be related to her unhealthy sleeping habits.

That night, in an attempt to put Lamar to bed at a normal time, Khloe brings him warm milk, rubs him down with a massage, and has him wear a lovely ruffly sleeping mask. She even plays some peaceful tracks on her laptop, which are supposed to help one fall into a comfortable sleep. It seems to work – until, that is, odd animalistic screeching noises from the "peaceful" sound effects wake him up. He proceeds to get out of bed and dance, almost like an unidentifiable dinosaur of some sort. His review: "This stuff works."

After another sleepless night, Khloe and Malika take an afternoon walk. Malika calls out Khloe on her opinion of Adrian, saying she’s a little too judgmental of her relationship with him. Khloe denies judging them, but Malika is convinced that deep down inside, Khloe doesn’t think it was smart of her to date him. Result: the walk is cut short, and Malika walks away in a huff.

In tears, Malika heads straight to her sister Khadija’s house. “I don’t wanna be accused of ruining someone’s marriage,” she says. She begins to review her relationship and her insecurities that have come along with it. Khadija thinks Malika just needs to sit down and talk to Adrian about this in person.

At home, Malika talks to Adrian. She can’t help but feel that she’s in the way of his family being together. Adrian tells her it’s not her fault and that she shouldn’t feel guilty, lovingly suggesting that they focus on themselves as a couple, not other people. Malika is still unsure, however, and all she can think about is how his children might feel.

Meanwhile, in the goofy Karashian-Odom household, Rob witnesses Khloe crushing melatonin (a sleep aid) and putting it in Lamar’s tea in a final effort to make him sleep. Yikes. Upon receiving the tea, Lamar clearly sees the crushed pills and dumps it out.

Later, Malika tells Khloe she and Adrian have ended their relationship. Khloe is proud of her for being so in love, but still having the strength to observe the situation and know that she deserves better.

After so many efforts on Khloe’s part to get Lamar back on a normal sleep schedule, he returns the favor by making Khloe tea (we’ll assume melatonin-free) and giving her a massage. Once she dozes off, Lamar phones his oldest friend Jamie, inviting him over because he’s bored. He still might not be sleeping normally despite his sleepy wife’s efforts to get him back on track, but at least Khloe is reunited with her beauty sleep.
