Harry Potter all grown up? Not quite.

But J.K. Rowling, the author of the critically acclaimed “Harry Potter” series, will soon release her first adult novel. Publishers have not released any details about the title and plot, but Rowling said her new book will be “very different” than the fantasy series she penned for kids.

"Although I've enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series," Rowling said in a statement." The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry's success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher."

Rowling, 46, will be publishing her new book with Little, Brown. The "Harry Potter" books, which have sold more than 450 million copies worldwide, were published by Bloomsbury in Britain and Scholastic in the US.

“I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life,” she said.
