There are nine other American involved in the case. Only the seven who were banned from leaving remained in Egypt, reports The Daily Beast.

The U.S. threatened to stop its annual $1.5 billion in aid to the country after its decision to ban the travel by American citizens who were all employed by American pro-democracy organizations.

The change was “an end to the worst crisis in relations between Egypt and the U.S. in 30 years,” according to the Associated Press.

Defense lawyer Tharwat Adbel-Shaheed told the AP that the Americans could only leave the country if the posted 2 million Egyptian pounds (roughly equivalent to $300,000).

The trial opened Sunday, but adjourned until April 26. A new court will be selected to try the case after the three judges excused themselves from the case Tuesday.

The travel ban was allegedly lifted by the country’s top prosecutor after the recommendation of the case’s investigating judge.
